The most important tourist area in Cairo is in the Citadel neighborhood on the outskirts of the city. This castle is surrounded by many ancient mosques dating back to the Fatimid era, such as the Ibn Tulun Mosque and the Sultan Hassan Mosque, which are considered among the most famous Islamic monuments.
